Vessels 1992-2006

My vessels are about holding, protecting and the act of discovery. They are visually influenced by American agricultural and Japanese traditional architecture, the symmetrical structures of plants, and historic wearable boxes. By releasing a clasp or a spring loaded mechanism, the viewer will reveal, at the core of the piece, a natural pearl, a seed or a simple clay bead. With their unadorned beauty and connection to the earth, these objects allude to that which is intrinsic to life: essential, pure and intuitive
