What We Hold 2007-2009

Drawn from my observations while traveling in Turkey, Mexico and Mesa Verde, Colorado, it is the architectural transitions between exterior and interior spaces, as well as a sense of quiet, reverie and discovery, that I sought to capture in this body of work. The details: tiny openings, fine lines, captured seeds and subtle surface marks are intended to invite viewers’ focused engagement. The intimate scale asks the viewer to step closer and inquire further in a quiet moment. These pieces reflect on memory and observation, potential and realization: what we notice, what persists, the things we hold, the things that hold us.
